Sample R&D notes

Sample R&D notes

Findings from an example dyno session. All figures here are invented for testing.

What we measured

  • Peak boost held steady under a controlled ramp.
  • Exhaust gas temperature dropped after the intake change.
  • Idle quality was unchanged across three warm-up cycles.

Observations

  1. Wastegate response improved once the actuator line was shortened.
  2. Above 6,000 rpm the reading became noisy, which we attribute to the sensor mount, not the engine.
  3. A second, larger test is planned before any figures are published as specifications.

Logging format

Each run is logged as one JSON record per sample. A minimal example:

json
{ "t": 12.48, "rpm": 6120, "boost_kpa": 182, "egt_c": 874 }

Post-processing used a short script to align the samples:

python
def align(samples, t0):
    return [s for s in samples if s["t"] >= t0]

Method

Both sessions used the same fuel, the same ambient window and the same ramp profile. Background reading on logging practice is available from the Mozilla developer docs on data formats for the general format of timestamps and sampling, and the Keystatic project documents how this content is authored.
